The past month in review

Wow where to begin. It has been awhile since i have posted and I have already been scolded by miss Sami so lets see where to begin. I have been applying to a few different CNA jobs, but have not gotten any bites until last week. i had an interview with Children's Hospital this morning! Unfortunately they had filled the position before I even had my interview, so I am on a wait list of sorts. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I was able to go home November 8-11 and it was wonderful. Joshua and I realized it was the first time we had been apart since the 4th of July!!!! It was not the same as being home for Thanksgiving, but getting to go home is always nice. I even got to get my haircut while I was there and I love it! I took the Heflins Christmas picture while I was home as well, always an entertaining event. The following weekend Joshua went deer hunting...I stayed in Omaha...this first weekend I have been in Omaha in....forever. I got my apartment cleaned up a little and watched a few movies, went to brunch with my Key Sis Lucie and just kinda chilled. The following weekend I went Josh's sister and mom to taste wedding cakes for his sister's wedding. We did not do a lot of tasting, but we did see some pretty cakes and I think she knows what she is getting. And can you believe it that puts us at Thanksgiving. As I said earlier I was unable to go home, so I spent the holiday with Joshua and his family. While I get to see them almost every weekend, but in the two plus years we have been dating I have never spent a holiday with his family. It was very fun! I even made the gravy, glazed the ham, and mashed the potatoes. I had to work the day after Thanksgiving (the reason I could not go home) and it was a long day. Apparently my co-workers were still a little full from the turkey the day before, but hey it is some extra money and I got to see my kids! Have you noticed I have really only been talking about the weekends, well that's because I spend my weeks working and that is really it. I did get to go to a Creighton game a few weeks ago with my Key Sis Lucie and her family. It was lots of fun!! But as I found out today, all my hard work at work has not gone unnoticed...I received Staff of the month today!! I am so excited and I know I should not brag, but I cant help myself. The past couple of weeks, OK maybe months, have been a little rough at work and it is nice to feel appreciated and get a little pick me up! I have been decorating my apartment this week for Christmas and that has been fun. I love all the lights. Even though I cant put them up outside, I put them up inside my apartment and in the windows. I have my little ceramic tree up that my Grandma Kaestner made! It snowed today, only an inch, and a little this past weeknd, but it had been really cold so even though the first day of winter is not officially until December 21...winter has come to Nebraska. O and a funny little story...for those of you who have or ever had cats you know they get into and onto things that sometimes seem impossible. Well I have a story to top them all...I woke up at 5am this morning to find my cat, Skye, on top of my closet door....I have no idea how she got up there. So naturally I got up, took a picture, got her down and went back to bed. The picture was taken with my phone so it is not very good, but get the idea.
Well this is a rather long post and I hope it was not too boring. I will try not to let another month go by before posting again.

I DID IT!!!!

Well the two plus months finally paid off. I have my CNA!!!! Clinicals were wonderful. I mean the nursing home was much better than I expected and I might actually work in a nursing home for a little bit. The hospital was a little boring, but a great experience. We were on the transplant floor at University of Nebraska Med Center and they are known throughout the Midwest for their transplant floor. I loved all of it though and am supper excited about finding a part time CNA job and even more excited about starting Nursing school in January. Now I just need to figure out what to do with all my extra time that I have spent in class...at least until I get a part time CNA job then I will have no time again ;)
We finally finished finished the floor in the Josh's wood-burning stove room so the room is completely done. And not to soon either. It got down to 22 last night....yes as in 10 degrees below freezing. It is supposed to warm up a little later in the week, but I think winter is here. So Kierstyn and Curtis while I am sorry about the sunburns, I am a little jealous...would love the heat up here. My apartment complex finally turned on the heat so at least my apartment is not cold any more. Well that is the most recent and exciting news from Nebraska...O except I get to go home November 8-11!!!! But I don't get to home for Thanksgiving. I am bummed, but it is the first Holiday I will spend with Joshua's family so it will still be fun and since he has come home with me with several Holidays it is only fair. I am ready for a break!!!!

Mid-October...already?!?!?!?

Wow I can not believe that October is almost half way over...my how time flies. So I start clinicals this week for my CNA class and have state examinations next week so send me good thoughts I am getting a little nervous. I am also trying to fill out the FAFSA for financial aid for nursing school and getting a wee bit frustrated. Why can't you just give them your name and they send you money? I am getting excited to start school, but this FAFSA stuff is a real drag. Work is going ok....I am glad I will not have to work there for the rest of my life. There was an issue last week over whether or not I was going to get paid for an hour I had worked...long story. Plus my boss keeps changing my schedule so I don't know when I work week to week and it even changes after the weeks schedule has been posted. We almost have the room where the wood burning stove is done...we actually got to use it this weekend! Yes it is that cold...we are under a freeze warning for tonight. Good old Nebraska. Well wish me luck this week and I cant wait to let you all know how clinicals went!
PS for those who don't know....OSU beat #3 Mizzou on Saturday!!!! Go Pokes!!!!

Things are looking up...

Well I am not sure things have gotten tons better but I at least I feel better. Work has calmed down a little and I have been getting off earlier which gives me a little break before class. I have one more week after this week then I start clinicals. The week after that is the State Examinations and the moment of truth. I am trying to look for some CNA jobs but not having a whole lot of luck. I found some time to go out with my key sises which was much needed. We are hoping to go to a movie on Friday before I head down to Hastings to see Joshua. So things are looking up...or maybe I was just able to change my attitude....amazing what deciding it is going to be a good day will do...even when everything goes wrong it still does not seem so bad. Thanks for all the comments and support!! They were a real help!!

Labor Day Weekend and Beyond

Well it has been a while since I have had a chance to right so here is what has been going on...
Joshua and I were able to go to OKC for Labor day weekend. We went to the first OU game of the season with my dad and got a little wet. We then celebrated Grandmother's 75th birthday with mom and the rest of the family. Other than Joshua and Matthew trying to throw me in to the pool it was lots of fun. And the steak stick things my mom made were delicious.
I started my CNA (certified nursing aide) class last Monday...the 8th. It has been very interesting and I am really looking forward to my clinicals. I went and bought scrubs this weekend, they are really expensive. Well at least more expensive than I thought they would be. Three pairs (shirt and pants) cost $100. Work is going well I am back at the nw center which is a nice break. I have been really tired thought because I work 7:30-4:30 and then I have my class from 5:30-9:30pm. It does not leave alot of time for me, but I figure it will all be worht it once I have my CNA in about a month and a half.
We are still working on Joshua's house. We got his wood burning stove in, which is wonderful since it has already started getting a little chilly up here. We foudn mold under his kitchen sink though and are tyring to get it killed and cleaned up. Hopefully we can get rid of it without having to rip out the sink and all the counters and cabiniets. Since it is an older house if we have to rip out the cabiniets we will have to replace all the cabinets in the kitchen which will not only be a pain, but rather expensive.
That is the big stuff that is going on in my life. Hopefully I will get back on shortly and keep you updated!

Welcome Home?

So work has been a little crazy and this weekend was not the best weekend ever, but I made it throught the weekend and through my Monday and was ready to come home and sit on my couch and watch a movie. My key sis, Jessica, was going to come over and we were planning on ordering Chinese. So I walk in my apartment, arms full from weekend luggage and freshly washed laundry and there in the middle of my living room rug was a dark pile. i assume one of my kittens has had an accident so I set everything down and ask them why they felt the need to use the rug as a bathroom and then as I walked closer I realized it was not in fact somehting made by my cats...it was a bat...yes as in the animal that flies around at night. After freaking out a bit I realize that is in fact dead, however I still have the problem of a bat in my apartment.I call my mother almost in tears...yes I said in tears...why I dont know...probably cause it had been a long day and this was not what I needed. I called my maintentce guy to come look and see if this bat had any friends however he informed me that he would be over to look at today (as in the day after). So this still left me the problem of a bat in my living room. So some how I used a large envelope and managed to scoop it into a palstice bag....not fun!!!! I call my vet to see if my cats could have picked up anything from the bat and am told to call the Humane Society because they will need to test it for rabies...yes my kittens are all up to date on their shots. They sent over someone to pick up the bat and dispose of it properly. My friend and I eventually got our Chinese food and sat and watched Deal or No Deal...and no I did not take pictures...so that is the latest in my life! O and how can I not mention that my cousin is PREGNANT!!!! and I am supper excited!!!!
